For those who have checked my blog the last few days, I’m sure you’ve noticed that “snow” has been falling. WordPress has this neat feature where from December 2nd-January 4th, you can have snowfall on your blog.
Having grown up in Southern California my whole life, snow was not something I got to really experience. I’ve only been around real snow 3 times in my whole life, and even still I haven’t experienced snowfall. Being able to have it on my blog makes for a small, but still really nice and fun winter holiday treat.
Anyways I should (hopefully) be home by Saturday, if all goes well.

Oh snow is so beautiful. It gets everywhere and the world is covered in a blanket of white. Your nose gets red and the flakes will stick on your eyelashes. Sometimes enormous flakes will float lazily to the ground, almost unwillingly, as if they know they are perfect for snowballs. When you get a really good snow storm you can look outside and only see about 20 feet away from you. That snow storm we had last year left almost two feet of snow on our roof. Unfortunately that’s when our roof started buckling because it couldn’t hold up all the snow lol.

All of that sounds so fun! Growing up with snow must be so nice. Only problem for me is that snow is so cold, and I don’t like cold weather. For me, cold isn’t any is about 65-69 degrees.

As the season progresses my toleration levels increase. What would’ve been cold during September (65- 55) would be warm in December when it’s anywhere from 20 – 40. And yes, growing up with snow is fun. I can remember making a snowman every year, and coming inside after dark to warm hot cocoa.

Oh well yeah I guess being able to get used to it and growing a tolerance makes sense. But I’m too scared and unwilling to try. Besides, considering I get relatively warm and/or sunny weather all year round, I’m not going to really complain.
I can imagine growing up with the snow would be beautiful though!

Yea it is. I do thoroughly enjoy spring and summer though. And more often then not I wish that winter were shorter. I’m too much of an earthy person to enjoy the dead yard look for too long. Seeing empty flower beds and bare tree’s for three months out of the year isn’t exciting.

You should come here! Our trees, plants and flowers look dead for only 1 month or so out of the year!!

Yea I’m considering moving to Greece. I belong in the Mediterranean. I’m planning on going for a year next year. I’ll definitely set up a blog for it because my mom will hate me if I don’t tell her every detail of my day.

You aren’t allowing comments on your “Information” page. I have a list of questions for you! If you don’t know where to find that option go to the page to edit your pages and then click on “Information” and then look for the box on the right to allow comments.

Oooh, I bet Greece is lovely! I’ve been to England many times, and I’ve also been to France as well as Italy. Gorgeous places, but quite frankly I don’t think I could move that far away from Los Angeles.
As far as the comments go, I was thinking more so along the lines of us collaborating on a post, I turn off all of the comments for my blog Pages, as I don’t wish to receive comments on them. Plus I thought a blog post would be far more interesting!

I’m a new visitor to this blog. Very nice clean layout. What city skyline is that in the header?
And yes, that snow effect is very nice. There’s an inline JavaScript applet for that if you ever wanted to use it outside of WordPress’ plugin duration.
You could have all the snow you want if you lived here in Ontario. First fall of the season starts on Monday, according to the weather forecast. Not looking forward to that. I’d be quite happy if it coated everything between the last week of December and the first week of January, then disappeared -_-’ But… not likely.

Aww. While Ontario sounds like a place I would most DEFINITELY want to visit, I couldn’t tear myself away from Southern California. It’s very true that you just can’t beat the weather. And as far as the skyline is concerned, that would be Downtown LA.

I love the blog snow! Have to figure out a way to turn it on on my blog.
I think snow is one of those things that it is lovely to look at from the inside out and it’s even nice to visit, but dealing with it on a day to day basis gets old quickly! Even when I was in DC, we’d get the occasional snow, so I’ve never yet escaped it, although in DC it was always funny because they’re totally unprepared for it there and whenever it does snow, it completely shuts the city down and people who are not from snow places freak out. It once took me almost 2 hours to get the 3 miles from school to my apartment because so many people in DC can’t drive in the snow.

@ Heather – So do you want me to put my questions on here then?
@ fifi – If you want to turn the snow on, go to your “Appearance” page (where you edit your blog theme) and then click on the “Extras” link right under your current theme. The snow option is the first box.

Yeah Fifi I too would imagine that snow on a day to day basis would become more of a chore instead of something to enjoy, lol. I don’t know how Southern California would react if it were to have heavy snowfall here, even for a day!
Willow first let me know if you’re cool with the questions being a blog post. I’d like this to be a mutual work in progress. Ooh maybe it can even be a guest blogger kind of thing (I’ve been dying to do that with someone, on my blog or yours).
Next we can then figure out which blog to put it on, and I’m more than happy to leave that choice up to you. Then from there I’d like to exchange email addresses, but in private somehow (maybe through your comments since you moderate and can delete?) so that spam doesn’t become an issue.

I think it’d be easier for people to find if it was one of your pages. But if we don’t do that then we should at least link that page (the “Information” page) to the post so that people can find it quickly. I think the post should go on your blog since you are the one experiencing all of it and the post would revolve around you. I’ll email you right now, I’ve got yours already.
